It depends on the area being treated. Deep scars require longer needles, but even then they are tiny – no longer than 3mms. For most treatments the needles are 1 mm or less, and approximately 0.1mm wide.

By causing controlled damage to the skin, microneedling stimulates the healing process, resulting in the generation of new skin cells and enhanced blood supply, thickening and renewing the skin.

Without proper sterilisation, piercing the skin can lead to infection or trigger skin conditions such as inflammation and rosacea, which is why we recommend having the treatment in the clinic, where sterilisation is guaranteed and the procedure is overseen by a professional.

Visible signs of regeneration and repair can take up to 6 weeks to show, after which the process will continue within the skin for several months. Where Dermaroller treatment has been used to address scar damage, blemishes, and pigmentation, the results are permanent – the skin does not revert to its previous state. Dermaroller treatment can’t stop the skin from aging, and further treatments may be desirable to continue to address fine lines and wrinkles, or dull, lacklustre skin.

• Always make sure that your hands are clean when touching the treatment area.
• Aggressive or caustic Skin Care Products should be avoided until the redness has subsided. It’s best to avoid make-up for the first 24 hours after the treatment.
• Steer clear of saunas, hot baths, and showers until the redness has faded.
• Keep out of intense sunlight and artificial UV light for at least 2-3 weeks.
• Don’t use fake tan for a week after Dermaroller treatment
