Alex Aresdahl

GDC No.234506

Dr. Alexander Aresdahl graduated from the prestigious Karolinska Institutet in dentistry in 2012. Since then he has worked as a dentist in Kristiansand, Norway, London, England, and Stockholm, Sweden. During his academic career, Alexander has trained in aesthetic dentistry by participating in advanced dental courses in countries such as Japan, USA, Germany and England.

Moreover, Alexander has also trained in facial aesthetics in the field of non-surgical medical aesthetics. This includes Botox ™ treatments, filler treatments and non-surgical thread lifts (PDO thread lift). The transition into continuing education within facial aesthetics felt natural to Alexander since the aesthetic dentistry has its foundations in facial aesthetics. By combining non-surgical medical aesthetic treatments, general and aesthetic dentistry, we can achieve treatment results in both the face and the oral cavity that would otherwise have been impossible.

Alexander’s passion for dentistry and facial aesthetics is based on the versatility of the treatments. There are two professional areas that require extensive medical education and knowledge of the head / neck area. The broad spectrum of the dental profession and the appreciation he gets from his patients is what Alexander loves about his profession. In order to ensure that his patients are as satisfied as possible with their treatments, Alexander always makes sure to be well prepared, structured and pedagogical. He looks to the totality of every treatment and always strives to combine a perfect smile design, optimal bite function and modern treatment methods so that his patients can smile at moments of life.

Alexander Aresdahl is a member of the BACD and the AACD (American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry).

“It is the opportunity to use the full spectrum of my medical education and my artistic side that makes me passionate about my job. The best thing about my job is THE moment, after a finished treatment, when I, as a practitioner, experience and see that my patients dare to smile big again, love their new smiles and love their treatment results!”

I qualified from Barts and The London and over the years I have worked in practices around Brighton, Surrey and London.

The world of dentistry is forever evolving so I am constantly updating my skillsets in order to practice the latest and newest techniques. This way I can be confident that my patients are getting the best and most concurrent treatment from me.
I am currently studying for a Diploma in Aesthetics and Restorative Dentistry. Prior to this, I completed a Post Graduate Certificate and The Royal College of Surgeons prestigious MJDF exam.

I care about my patient’s first and foremost and want to make their experience positive, comfortable and pain free – so they always leave the practice smiling (even if it is behind a mask)!

I am great with children and anxious patients in particular. I have developed a lot of relaxation and calming techniques through practising yoga and meditation myself, and I have found these to work very well in reducing stress and anxiety in the dental chair.

I am very enthusiastic about dentistry; I genuinely love my job! If you were to ask me where my interests lie, I would probably have to say composite bonding, tooth whitening, smile makeovers and minimal preparation veneers. I want my patients to be able to smile with confidence and feel good about their teeth. I enjoy creating natural smiles for my patients however there is something to be said for the wow factor a ‘Hollywood’ smile can give.

Another area where my passion lies is biomimetic dentistry, this is where materials are layered to mimic the natural structure of a tooth. I always try to save teeth which are very broken down or decayed using deep margin elevation techniques which you can see in my cases below.

I love keeping busy and sometimes struggle to sit still. I love helping people and volunteering. During Covid, I helped out with the NHS 111 service and set up a cooked meal charity for vulnerable people isolating. I otherwise enjoy painting, mixed martial arts, fencing and Spanish guitar. I also love animals and I have two cats called Gato and Azul.

I entered dentistry through a selective and prestigious postgraduate programme at King’s College London, having just completed my BSc in Biomedical Sciences at Kings. Entering dentistry at this later stage in my life allowed me a level of maturity and understanding towards my patients. Throughout my career, I have practiced in South London, Hastings, as well as volunteered abroad in Ghana and the Philippines. I have worked in general and private practice, as well as urgent dental care providing emergency care to unregistered patients.

Dentistry has never been a job for me, it is a passion. I thoroughly enjoy further improving my skills with post graduate courses and working towards the gold standard. I want to make visits to the dentist as stress-free and rewarding as possible. I am good with children and nervous patients.

My approach to dentistry focuses on creating a relaxing and safe environment for patients. I enjoy all aspects of general dentistry with a focus on cosmetic and restorative dentistry. I am a certified provider of Invisalign Go, and am currently studying towards completion of a Post Graduate Diploma in Injectables in Facial Aesthetics. As a sufferer of eczema my whole life, I am very passionate about skincare and taking care of the skin you are in. I am a certified provider of medical grade skincare with Zo Obagi, and am very knowledgeable about western and asian skincare.

Outside of dentistry I love cooking, nature and travelling with my fianccé (when possible!). I also enjoy origami, mindfulness and everything Japanese!

I graduated from the University of Bristol in 2017 (BDS). I then continued with further postgraduate studies and completed membership examinations with the Royal College of Surgeons, Glasgow in 2019 (MFDS).

I have developed my skills through working in general practice in South West London and various hospitals including King’s College Hospital, London and Queen Mary’s Hospital, Sidcup. I have completed postgraduate training across a range of specialties including Oral Surgery, Restorative dentistry and Paediatrics.

I enjoy treating adults and children with dental anxiety, helping my patients to feel at ease and ensuring their visits to the dentist are a positive experience. To compliment this, I have accreditation from the Society of Advanced of Anaesthesia in Dentistry to utilise sedation for dental treatment.

I am enthusiastic about research and quality improvement in healthcare and I have presented my work at several National and International conferences, including the European Cranio and Maxillofacial Surgery Congress and the European Orthodontic Conference. I have published articles in a variety of journals including the British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the British Dental Journal.

Throughout my years working in a variety of dental hospitals, I have developed a passion for teaching and mentoring young dentists. I was chosen to present at the London Deanery discussing ‘How to Maximise your Dental Core Training Experience’ and I am currently undertaking a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Education.

Outside of dentistry, I am a keen horse rider and have competed internationally for several years. I enjoy tennis and skiing and I have recently turned my hand to cycling, particularly enjoying cycling holidays exploring my homeland of Ireland. I love the bustle of London and spend my weekends discovering new restaurants and coffee spots.
