You might get small, red marks at the injection sites, which will fade within thirty minutes, and there may be some slight swelling and/or bruising. If this is the case, it will fade within hours or perhaps days.

Some clients experience a little discomfort, especially if nervous around needles, but Botox injections are a non-surgical treatment and the procedure is largely pain-free.

Anti-wrinkle injections have been used safely for decades across the world. Advancements in research and application mean that they are now used medically to help with teeth grinding and excessive underarm sweating.

Botox is not advised for pregnant or nursing women, or for clients with muscle or nerve conditions that might not interact well with anti-wrinkle injections.

Steer clear of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) such as aspirin, as they thin the blood and intensify bruising. The same goes for alcohol, for the same reason – 24 hours is long enough but it doesn’t harm to leave longer. Stay away from saunas, steam rooms, hot showers and baths, and avoid exercise. Make-up is to be avoided until healing is complete.

Results typically last for 3–4 months. However, if the treatment is repeated over time, your muscles will be ‘retrained’ by the weakening effect of Botox, reducing the strength of the contractions which cause wrinkles in the first place. As this occurs, the length between treatments can extend, and twice-yearly injections can be enough to maintain results.
