Acne & Acne Scarring

Though acne tends to affect teenagers the most, due to hormonal changes in the body, many people suffer flare-ups of the red, unsightly condition in their twenties, and for some it is an enduring problem. Not only is acne unpleasant to look it, it can leave disfiguring scars, particularly when they are on the face.

Acne and acne scarring can severely impact a person’s confidence, especially when people visibly notice their condition or make comments about it. It is no wonder that clients come to us wanting to treat their acne, and to hide or minimise their acne scars. The good news is that there are several effective treatments, and that even deep acne scars can be vastly reduced in depth and visibility.

Rosacea

Rosacea is a long-term skin condition which mainly affects the skin of the face. Rosacea is characterised by redness in localised areas, and most commonly shows itself as prolonged and excessive blushing in the face and neck. Blushing is a normal response to embarrassment or self-consciousness, but in most people it fades quickly after the source of the discomfort is removed. Rosacea can linger in the skin for far longer, causing further self-consciousness.

Rosacea is more common in women than men, and tends to affect people with light skin tones. For many, the condition becomes active between the ages of 30 and 40, but there may be signs of its development in your 20s. At Medi Aesthetics, we offer a number of effective treatments for rosacea:

Dull, Dry, Tired Skin

It’s easy to take a youthful complexion for granted until it begins to fade. Glowing skin can become dull, plump skin can become dry, and youthful skin can look tired and drawn. Ageing is natural, but that doesn’t mean we have to accept its pace and progress, especially when there are so many effective treatments out there.

One of the main causes of skin deterioration is the slowing of collagen and elastin production, but at Medi Aesthetics, we offer a number of treatments that will rejuvenate and refresh your skin by stimulating the production of those key chemicals, giving you a more youthful, smooth, and plump complexion. Whether you opt for chemical peels or microneedling, Dermalux light therapy or medical grade skin products, we’ll find a way to give your skin the boost it needs.

Sun Damage Pigmentation Brightening

To protect itself from the damaging effects of intense sunlight, your skin increases its production of the dark pigment called melanin, which is what gives people their sought-after tan after a holiday in the sun. In sun-damaged skin, the production of melanin (and therefore the pigmentation) is often uneven, resulting in localised dark patches, blotchiness, and irregular colouring of the skin. Prolonged exposure to intense, direct sunlight can also result in the permanent stretching of the tiny blood vessels called capillaries, giving your skin a mottled, reddish appearance.

At Medi Aesthetics, we understand the impact sun-damaged skin can have on your complexion and self-confidence, and offer a number of effective treatments to help restore the freshness and health of your skin.

Hydration

The glowing, vibrant skin we are blessed with in our youth doesn’t stay that way without effort. As we age our skin shows the signs of age and wear, but that doesn’t mean we have to accept the status quo.

One of the best ways to maintain a youthful complexion is to keep your skin fully hydrated. Hydrated skin is able to hold the nutrients and volume that are necessary for a fresh complexion. Skin cells and layers are connected to each other by elastin, the presence of which keeps skin supple. Hydration maximises those connections, enabling your skin to stretch and move freely when you form facial expressions, before returning to its original shape, preventing or reducing the development of lines and wrinkles.

Sensitised & Allergy Prone

Sensitive skin is a common issue, referring to skin that is prone to inflammation. People with sensitive skin often have reactions to the chemicals present in even common products when they come into contact with their skin. They may also suffer irritation from friction or clothing, or even have an allergic reaction to specific substances.

Sensitive skin can flare up due to exposure to even natural elements such as sunlight, heavy wind, and freezing or very hot temperatures, resulting in eczema, hives, redness, rashes, itchiness, and sunburns.

At Medi Aesthetics, we are experts in skincare. No matter your sensitivity, we will be able to advise you on the best skincare routines and treatments for you, along with helping you find ways to avoid potential triggers for skin irritation.
